L – R: Chief Nursing Officer Pam Poulin, Honoree Morgan Matthews, RN; President & CEO Dr. Patrick Taylor, and Inpatient Nursing Director Lilly Brown.

We are pleased to announce York Hospital’s 2024 first-quarter recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Congratulations to Morgan Matthews, RN, a member of York Hospital’s Medical-Surgical team.

Nominated by a patient and her family, the online nomination said, in part: “I am writing this for my mother, who had the good fortune to have Morgan assigned as her nurse. My mom was admitted for COVID which can be difficult enough, but she also has MS which was heavily affected by the illness. Morgan went above the call of duty to make my mom feel heard, comfortable, safe, and genuinely cared for. She stayed with her when she was upset, anxious and crying. When my mom was feeling especially cold, she asked what her favorite color was, and returned with a handmade prayer shawl from the chapel in my mom’s favorite purple. Morgan legitimately changed my mom’s outlook about her difficult and lonely stay. My mother wants to nominate Morgan for being a spark of light during a hard time. She made a difference.”

Congratulations, Morgan! Thank you for being that spark of light and compassion for the patients—and families—in your care at York Hospital.
